Young children are extremely creative and come up with the most fantastic words while they are learning to speak! What a wonderful time it is for a parent and child to bond while having a unique way to intimately communicate even before their child can properly formulate a word. Although it might be cryptic to others; this special language of "Mommy or Daddy Talk" can be so amusing and quite entertaining!
My daughter, Catie, came up with the funniest words when she was a baby. She made me laugh and laugh and LAUGH! One word has always stuck with me; even to this day (almost eighteen years later). That word is "Gagi" (pronounced Gah G-ee). She said; "Gagi" or "Gagi Mama, Gagi!" The moment I heard it; I knew what it meant. This was her way of saying; "I Love You." She said this to me all of the time but especially at night; right before she would fall asleep. I gave her the nickname "My Little Gagi" and "Gagas."
Catie loved for me to read to her at bedtime but she really loved creative and colorful made up stories. The more imaginative the story; the more attentive she was. She had the most spectacular imagination and when she was a little older; she would tell ME stories. Her favorite pastime was anything that had to do with unicorns, rainbows, and cotton candy! She came up with a sweet little story that she told me every single night. To this day; I still hear it as if it were yesterday.
It went like this: "Goodnight with rainbows and unicorns that slide over the rainbows and after they jump on cotton candy clouds and bend down to eat them; they enter the land of candy as you are riding on a unicorn. Gagi, Mama, Gagi."
Catie inspired me to create the many whimsical adventures of "Gagi The Unicorn." She brought Gagi to life by giving me her sweet spirited tale.
I hope that you and your child will enjoy reading each and every Gagi story. May they ignite your own fairy tale far beyond anything you and your child could possibly ever imagine!
